Takshila Utsav 2015 | Patna

Takshila Educational Society (TES), the promoter of Delhi Public School (Patna, Pune, Ludhiana and Coimbatore) has, since its inception, endeavoured to walk a path, seldom taken by others. In our concerted effort to provide holistic education to our students, we have tried to expose them to different facets of life. Indian heritage has figured prominently in our effort. In the past Takshila Educational Society has organized several events which have showcased many jewels from our country's rich cultural repertoire. Cultural reawakening, not only for our students but also for people at large, is an on-going challenge for us.

With this in view, we have been organizing Takshila Utsav, Takshila Bhakti Utsav, Ninad, Mushaira Jashn-e-Bahar and other such events for several years.

The 6th Takshila Utsav is being organized in Patna from 27-29 November, 2015. All programmes will be held in the premises of College of Arts & Craft. It will see some of the great performers of the country perform and some very rich cultural activities. The first day will start with inauguration of an Art Exhibition in the art gallery and a Qawwali performance by Nazeer and Naseer Ahmad Khan Warsi (Warsi Brothers) of Hyderabad. Scion of legendary Ustad Aziz Ahmad Khan Warsi, they are one of the foremost Qawwali singers of the country and will render some Sufi Qawwalis.

The Second day will start with a Book Release and a Sitar recital by Pt. Kushal Das accompanied on the Tabla by Shri Biplab Bhattacharya. This will be followed by a Classical Vocal performance by the emininent singer of Gwalior and Kirana Gharana, Pt. M. Venkatesh Kumar. He will be accompanied on the Tabla by Shri Keshav Joshi and on the harmonium by Shri Vinay Mishra.

The third day will witness a classical vocal performance by Shri Jaiteerth Mevundi, the dynamic young singer of Kirana Gharana. He will be accompanied on the Tabla by Shri Vinod Lele and on the harmonium by Shri Vinay Mishra. The three day event will conclude with an Odissi performance of Smt. Madhavi Mudgal and her troupe.

This season of Takshila Utsav will see an assembly of connoisseurs of performing and visual arts and literature and will leave some memories to cherish.
